Broken Knock Sensor?

I noticed while getting my IROC out of storage that the knock sensor is broken off and dangling from the wire! the sensor itself is still in the block, but the plastic part is still in the harness, hanging down underneath. Anyone think I may be losing a few degrees of timing or any other problems from this? Thanks in Advance, I've learned a TON on this board.....

Hey! Skinny pedal on the right! (for those people that are ALWAYS in front of me!)

yeah i think it might be a problem. you might want to look into replacing it. if it's not leaking the easiest route might be to leave the broke part in the block and put a new senser in the other side and splice a piece of wire in the get the length you need to reach the new location.

Thanks for the quick response...actually the big round part of the sensor is still on the block too, so Im pretty sure I can get the whole thing out without bustin' the threads or anything....just the plastic connector broke right at the wire....I only drove it about 10 miles, and it seemed to run okay, but...one more question...the car originally had a 305TPI, now it has a Vette 350 TPI; do I need a different knock sensor? I believe the broken one is the original from the 305 setup.....
