Porting a stock TPI intake....can it be done???

Ok, I'm putting a 355 in my car soon and I'm going to port the plenum out! I was also thinking about porting the intake!! I've heard of some people doing it and I've also read that the material is already too thin to port!! Personally, I don't have the $409 to buy an aftermarket intake!! Edelbrock appears to be the cheapest one I've found at $409!! Does anyone think the stock intake can be ported??

Yes, you can port the stock intake. There's plenty material to remove. Theres a post abou someone who siamesed the intake and got some good hp gains on the dyno.

Yes there is a pic. In fact, there are 2. Plus the dyno sheets.

86,

If you don't want to get as radical as Max, you can look at these directions:

Plenum Porting.pdf

Personally, I think Max is on to something good for a manifold/base design. A little more tuning and some real track times over a longer period will probably sell me completely.
