Uh oh, car heavily stumbles/hesitates when gassed at low speed/gear !?!?!

I JUST got my GTA back today from having a used transmission put in it...the good news is that the tranny shifts fine, hits 2nd and doesn't slip at all
The bad news is that I took the GTA out for a drive this evening to get a feel for the tranny. After driving ~65 miles I came to a stop and punched the gas...here is where my problem comes in:

-Never, ever prior to having tranny problems did my car do this! I took it originally to some podunk shop to have the tranny done but after taking over a week after the day they said they would have it done I told them to forget about it and leave my car alone(I lost 3rd and 4th so it was still driveable)! So I took it to the place across town. Since then when I try to punch it some bad things happen:

The car will not light up the tires, at all...what it does when you gas into it is:

-at the very first it will lunge forward and get up and ready to go, for about half a fuggin second.
-then, all the guages will light up, the tach will show redline(digital dash)the fuel tank will show full, the speedo shows 188mph, and the temp, oil, and alternator guages all light up...also power dies to my stereo system and it restarts.
-the car, during or nanoseconds after the guages go ape**** kindof halfway dies. It stumbles and chokes, makes kindof a backfiring sound(once or twice, it didn't happen tonight)
-AND what's most scary to me is that, tonite I saw sparks coming from the back of my hood, not alot, just a quick jolt like when you touch a wrench to the alternator.

The car only, only does this on the low end. When you hammer into it at 35 or lower, it does this crap, when you get into at at 50 or above, where it can gradually approach redline it does fine. I ran it, TWICE from 50mph to 100mph and had none of the same problems associated with my low end.

I'm hoping this is just an electrical system, or I'm misfiring on a cylinder (doesn't seem to have 100% power) BUT the sparks scared me, could I possibly have lost a piston ?

I am at a loss here, tommorow I'm going to inspect all the plugs/wires to see if that could be the source of the problem....methinks I'll change them to AC/DELCO stuff too and see if that makes a difference, but they were done pretty recently (within the last 15k miles) I am just trying to get rid of this royal POS GTA, but everytime I see it it wants to hurt me again

One more idea I had was that this podunk bastage I took my car to may have messed something up in it because it had a few more miles on it than when I left it there, and he might have been po'ed that I took my buisness elsewhere.....gawd

Help me out here, please

My car did exactly that when the FP went out, but the sparks thing has me a weary...along with the guages going bonkers... Maybe take a fuel pressure reading and tell us what it's at.

Check all your ignition components! Sounds like you might have a bad ignition module!!

Sounds like a broken ground wire caused by the install of the tranny.
