Rich Idle
I just recently swapped from TBI to TPI. The throttle response and over all power are great. The only problem I am having is a rich idle and it sort of stumbles at idle. the RPM will bounce around a little bit between like 650 and 750 RPM, while idling. The TPS is set at .5 volts and there are no vacuum leaks anywhere. Can someone give me any reasons as to why i have a rich, stumbling idle?

What is in your engine? What prom calibration are you running? Have you tuned the chip AT ALL?

It is a 355 with around 10.5:1 compression. World Products heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. Comp Cams 08-304-8(i think thats the right number). ported plenum, SLP runners, Edelbrock base, and 22 lb injectors and stock PROM. I know i need some PROM tuning, but i was wondering if there was another reason for it being rich

Car: 88 Firebird WS6
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.42
Every modded (seriously like a cam or something) TPI car I ever saw with the stock prom had a rich idle, and a rich top end. Get a 'custom' chip and kiss the probs away.
(Sounds like you have a kick *** combo too with a good chip..)

If you get a cam or anything like that, what you need is a fuel pressure regulator. They are about $60 in Summit catalog. That way you can adjust it to run with your cam or whatever. I haven't got one yet(no money), but, it will be a good investment.
