141k TPI, what to look for?

Well, it would seem that after much head bashing with some of you over the virtues of my former 2.8 V6 Firebird, I seem to now have an L98 Formula... With that pride swallowed, on to the question...

It's a pretty high mileage engine (141,000), formerly owned by Guido, so I'm sure it was well taken care of. That doesn't change the fact that some things just go after a while. Any suggestions of things I should start to look for? Signs of wear, or just anything bound to go up the river around 150k? I can't afford a full rebuild yet, but any advice will be much apprecaited.

On mine... I have replaced the distributor, MAF, cleaned throttlebody, reset TPS, and base idle. Most of the rest has just been general maintenance. I am beginning to believe that my injectors are getting old though, and think I may need to replace them soon. I have 140K on mine, it still runs pretty good, with some minor issues at start-up, and after driving long distance. (300+ miles) Still original motor and trans.

Hope this helps.

That car is a score. Very fast for a pretty much bone stock car. Guido take exceptional care of his cars and this was no exception. Great runner. Things that start to go are heater cores and various sensors may start to crap out. But with the way that car runs, I doubt you will see this anytime soon. Fuel pumps start to go, but I think he did one on that car so you are all set there. Front end stuff, like ball joints and tie rods. Typical stuff you would see on any car. L98 is a great motor and will run another 100k.

Change the carpet. Guido liked to pee in the back seat on long trips.

Do a normal tune up and the car should run fine. I have seen this car myself and it is in great shape for the miles. I thought it has 100,000 or so, not 141K.

I heard that guy Guido beats the **** out of his car. Dont believe anything you hear on this board!!

For what it is worth, It has a fairly new cap and rotor, plugs and wires too. I replaced them when I had that problem with the ignition switch. They probably have a couple thousand miles on them at most?? Auto Zone specials though.
