I'm pretty sure a Lt1 intake is setup for reverse cooling. Someone else would know for sure though.

LT1's are distributorless, they use Optispark upfront off of the timing chain cover to generate spark pulses.

Therefore, there's no distributor hole in the back of the manifold.

ok what would happen if you drilled a hole for the distribuitor, to sit, in , what about the reverse cooling thing ? and would the intake bolt up to l98 block ?

The water passages dont line up, and I think the intake port passages dont line up either. But you could always modify it to fit for $$$$.

I believe you're going to run into more trouble than it's worth trying to put that LT1 intake on there!

The LT1 injectors, however, will work with an L98! I picked up my used 24# LT1 injectors from www.speedautomotive.com for $25 plus shipping and now I'm having them cleaned and flowmatch by Cruizin' Performance for $80! I think paying just over $100 for a set of 24# injectors that flow BETTER than they did from GM is better than paying just over $200 for some SVO injectors!! Just my opinion!

It sucks that the LT1 intake won't fit our L98 motors. I could have picked up two at the spring Daytona car show for $75 each! I guess LT1 heads won't drop on our block cause of the water passages?

You got it! They're reverse flow just like every other part of the LT1!! In my opinion, GM would be better off if they would quit making these damn engines and components that aren't compatible with older blocks!!

This has been done . You would have to machine in provisions for the distributor and tap into the coolant passages in the head and loop the coolant flow . Coolant doesn't flow thru a LT1 intake . I've also seen circle track racers use iron LT1 IMP heads , again though , you have to make it work .

Do a search on cz28.com in the for sale section for a 90 RS . This guy was selling his car and did make a LT1 intake and ported LT1 heads work with a Gen 1 block .

I dont think its worth it. For the price and hassle of LT1 heads and intake on your regular small block, you can either get the whole LT1 engine, or get AFR heads and a MiniRam on your small block.

The LT1s ports will line up but all the bolts won't. I'm guessing GM did this so people don't bolt on an intake that has no water passages running through it. They probably changed the bolt pattern on the Vortecs because the intake ports were different too. If you want a mini ram, this thing is only $255

If you still wanted to modify a LT1 intake, I bet you could have the right intake hole drilled in, the rear distributor hole put in too. For the front. you might be able to cut off the part below the TB and weld front of a carb intake on .. GM did something like this on a 406cid Monte Carlo concept, the green one. I have an article on my website on how to make LT1 heads fit GenI blocks(not that its worth it anymore now that Vortecs are here).
