HSR with external EGR?
HSR with external EGR?
Hi guys, i'm new here, and i've had a 1989 GTA 350 TPI since last november, and it's a decent car, but as you all know they hit a brick wall at 4500 RPM, and i know the stealth ram is the BEST intake as opposed to the SLP/edelbrock or accel systems. For peak HP and price as well. My question is I know it doesn't have a provision for EGR, but what about fabbing up a bung, and using an external type EGR like on the newer v6's(I believe they had remote EGRs)?

Re: HSR with external EGR?
corvette setups use a pipe off the exhaust manifold and plugs into the back of the TPI base. What you'd need to do is run that tube off the header tubes and plump that into the EGR of a TPI setup perhaps, and run that into the back of the manifold so it injects that partially burnt air into the motor again. in theory it should work fine. not sure how you'd fabricate it tho. need to make a small metal box to mount the EGR too and then tap it for like metal lines, like a brake line or nitrous/fuel hardline.
Re: HSR with external EGR?
That doesn't sound too terrible, should be able to be done(including intake manifold paid off) for under a thousand i'd think, atleast. And it would be the best bang for my buck? Is there any other intake you'd suggest I know FIRST makes one, but I hear they have like 9 inch long runners?
Thanks for your help. I'm trying to build up a decent street legal drag car. And, i know the intake is the main area of focus for the TPI engine

Re: HSR with external EGR?
First would be interesting but its pretty expensive at about 1000 bucks or so. HSR is by far best bang for the buck

Okay then, I really appreciate the help. I'll start saving my money for my suspension/intake(Spohn LCA/pan hard bar, lake wood drag shocks front/rear moroso springs, and hoosier quick time tires)
