Will this destroy my valve springs?

I want to put 1.6 Roller rockers on my 91 formula. Th only problem is I have a comp cam which has 210 220 dur. at .050 and .480" lift. I think 1.6's make the lift go above .500. I have compcams valve springs which are rated to like .490" I believe. I dont know exactly the rating but they are 1.25" in diameter and i dont want to buy new springs. Will the extra lift break them

The problem you are going to run into is the valve guide boss on the head sticks up too high to allow that much valve lift on the stock heads. The retainer will smash into the guide boss with that much lift on a stock head. You will need to have the heads machined to accept that amount of lift. Virtually all Small block chev engines will accept up to .495" lift from the factory if they have the proper springs. Get your heads done and you're set. But while you got them off....................................................????
