Sounds like a leaking injector even though you say they are new. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge, and see if it bleeds off with the KOEO.

Re: symptoms of oversized injectors

my car does the same thing. i have a 350 w/ 24 lb injectors. when you start the car up, it is in open loop(not using O2 sensor), so it could be running rich until the O2 heats up. he should get an adjustable regulator, and that will prob help, but it shoulnt be much of an issue. too check for a leaking injector, pull the fuel rail out of the intake, leave all the lines and injectors connected, and turn igt on engine off. look at the nozzles to see if they are leaking.i dont think thats it, but its better to spend the time to check, rather than hydrolock the motor.

Re: symptoms of oversized injectors

i check the injectors there is no leak , i found out the prev owner had dumped alot of stabil in the tank and it deff smells like burning stabil also , the ign system could use a lil upgrade and the timing could be bumped up a degree
