What in the hell just happened?

Hey there guys, i havent been here in awhile due to some wife problems but I have since gotten the worked out. Boy I almost lost it all.
Anyway I was driving my car today and all of a sudden it started to sputter and the SES light came on and flickered and then just stayed on from there.
When I got hoem to see what code it was giving, it wont tell me the light just stays on with or without the clip in. What in the hell is wrong now?
I looked under the hood and cant see anything loose or anything. What would cause my car to all of a sudden start running like **** and make the SES light stay on like that...?

Thanks guys

maybe your computer bit the dust. There are only a couple of possibilities about the SES light.

1) The computer is doing it
2) The ground wire, all of a sudden, broke and somehow grounded itself.

If the computer died, it would go into limp-home mode, which could cause the problem you mentioned. My sugg would be to try a new prom.

If you can't ground the ECM to pull codes but could before, look at the ECM, then the PROM. Computers don't last forever. Be sure to check for voltage at the ALDL to make sure it's not a wiring problem.
