code 42 87 350, ignition module?

i have an 87 350, at first i only got code 42 after highway driving, now i get it a couple seconds after starting the car, i looked for any bad wires, couldn't find any, i am going to check again though, but what could this be, the car starts a little weird now, turn the key nothing happens but a weird noise for a couple of seconds and then it starts, anyone else had this problem, is it the ignition module and how hard and costly is that to change, thanks

well I not sure if it is your ignition module is your problem, but I have changed mine and its not that bad, its like 20-30 dollars from your local auto store, well to change it is pretty easy, you just have to pull off your distrbutor(spelling) cap off and its right there, I don't think you have to take your roter off, but your module is what the two wires are connected too on your distrbutor, its held down by two screws, just take out the two screws and make sure you use the electric grease that comes with the module and thats pretty much it. hope this helps you out.

anyone else had the problem, the fact that it starts real slow then fires sounds like a timing problem though, why it the effect of a bad ignition module

ok, i am pretty sure it is the est and not the ignition module cuz i checked the timing when i got the code and it was at 6 btdc like it would be if the est was bypassed by unplugging it, changed that connector didn't change,

could it be a bad ecm?
wires getting heat soaked?
should i find voltage in the wire tan and black wire that you bypass it at
