Air injection help please
I currently own an 88 Iroc 350 tpi. Headers were put on it 2 years ago and the Air injection system was removed. I need to reinstall it to pass emissions!!! I have the air (smog) pump but there are no air tubes on my headers, it was suggested that i could run the air injection directly into the collector pipe. is this possible or will it not be effective?? I was told that doing so may force too much air into the exhaust. does anyone know what i can do short of buying new headers with air tubes???
Thanks
Thanks

I think I'd check your local smog laws. If you need to pass a correct visual inspection, what you're proposing wouldn't pass a visual inspection.
I also don't think it will work as the AIR system is designed for, the AIR system diverts the air to the catalytic converter to aid in the catalytic reaction.

the air injection is there to help the cat burn off whatever made it passed the combustion process by adding air to the cat it burns up the unused mixture creating less pollutants going out the tail pipe you could run it directly to the air intake on the cat but use steel lines or the y pipe and headers will make short work of it.you also could get the tubing off of old exhaust manifolds drill and tap holes in your headers and screw them in that way
