most liky it a vacume leak from some were
that is if it just started doing this
also did you get the same fuel pump that was stock
for your car or did you upgrade to an after market
one if you did and its smaller and does not produce
enuff pressure it might run a little lean and couse it to idel higer also but
you would notice a differance in power it would also drop

Sounds like what my car did when the TPS went. It wouldn't idle below 1,500 rpm and it would accelerate to 50 mph if I let go of the brake.

I am the champion of this prob I just fixed it!! It ha happened twice to me and nobody knew each time. I need some info about your car and I can prob help you out!!!! A couple of weeks ago it cost me $300 to fix it. I have a really simple test for you. If it is a TPI then pull the linkage where all the cable connect. Pull it toward you and jiggle it around. Mine was idling about 1550RPM's and sometimes 2000RPM's and some times fine. If the car idles down it is the TPS. I have a bunch of other things to try for ya too. E-mail me if you want and I will try to help you.

My car jsut started doing the same thing recently, and overheated while i was trying to get weezer tickets... i was pretty pissed... it seems like it idles too smooth and consistent to be a vacuum leak, but i could be wrong... I'm gonna check the tps... i disconnected the intake tube in front of the throttle body (which disabled the maf) and it wouldn't run worth ****, so the tps is a definite suspect.
