How to check EGR componets

I searched and found different answers here. So just to be certain: How do I check all the components on the EGR system for a 1987 Camaro 5.7 TPI engine. I have the components off the car.

EGR- Should it hold a vac off the car or bleed down?
Solenoid- Is this NO or NC and how to test?
EGR temp switch- How to test off the car?

Also how do purchase these parts?

Thanks so much!

Re: How to check EGR componets

EGR should hold the vacuum when you push in the diaphragm and put your finger over the hole. If the diaphragm releases, its bad.

I dont know the other two answers.
