HELP! My first probs with TPI!

I instaled TPI in my 89 RS about 2 months ago and everything was going very well. Just recently the idle got very rich and i was getting a SES light. I pulled the codes and i got a 33 and 36. I bought a new MAF sensor and i already had a new MAF relay so i thought this would solve my problem. when i installed the new MAF i am still getting a SES light. Any ideas? thanks

Switch the other MAF sensor and check the plug. Also check the bellows for leaks.

CK,

Check the MAF power and burnoff relays. You may have an intermittent connection and/or marginal contacts in the burnoff relay. Make sure the connector at the MAF is intact, and that all engine grounds are solid. The ECM must also be solidly grounded.

You should also set the TPS to design voltage and make sure the distributor connections are good. The ECM relies on the TPS sensor and engine RPM indication to determine what an acceptable range of intake air flow should be. The MAF measurement is compared to this range, and the DTC is set if the MAF is reporting out of range. Your error means the MAF is reporting more flow than should be normal, so the TPS voltage may be a bit low, making the ECM think the throttle is not open as far as it might really be.

Another problem is that your PROM might not be correct for your engine. If the PROM was burned for a smaller displacement engine, the MAF would show more flow than would be the expected "normal" for the smaller displacement. Make sure you have a PROM for a 350.

TPS voltage is at .6 volts and i am sure that i have a 350 PROM. im pretty sure the old MAF is dead because we followed the instructions on how to check it from my uncle's snap on scanner and it didnt show any volts from the "B" pin on the connector. I am going to check the relays and grounds tomorrow. til then, keep the suggestions coming. thanks

See, I just go for the easy stuff, Vader hits the hard stuff (and takes the time to explain, unlike some of us!). Teamwork baby!
