Any Other Free Mods??

Well, Monday, I put my car back together after I replaced the valve cover gaskets, ported the upper plenum, and did the throttle body coolant bypass. Other than these, what other "free" mods can I do??

SW,

Maybe not completely "free", but inexpensive, at least:

Change to 180°F thermostat. You might as well flush and refill the cooling system while you're at it, so plan on about $20.00 in parts and antifreeze;

Add an auxilliary fan switch to control the radiator at 200°F - $21.00 for the switch and a few feet of wire;

Convert to an adjustable fuel pressure regulator - $30.00 for gaskets if your new plenum gaskets are already baked in place;

Adjust the TV cable for optimum shift points;

Adjust base timing for optimum performance (may require a scan tool to monitor knock counts);

Bolt a steel stiffener plate behind the steering gear box ($6.00 for a ¼" steel plate);

Gasket match the exhaust manifold to the heads;

Increase the TPS voltage at idle as long as you remain below 0.60VDC;

Read the "Free & Cheap Mods" section in the Tech Articles.
