LT1 cam in L98?

I was told that you can use a LT1 cam in a L98. How much can I expect to gain if I do this? Also will a LT4 cam work? If so what will the gain be with this cam? Thanks.

yes you can. you need to shorten the dowl pin just a hair on the camshaft but it will work. the stock LT1 cam will perform slightly better than the L98, but the LT4 Hot cam will give you a lope at idle and will rev to 6000rpm+, but your TPI will not pull to 6000rpm. but just by changing to the LT4 hot cam, you will see im guessing ~20-30hp.

Whiterocz do you feel it is worth changing to the LT1 cam or would it be a waste of time? Also would the LT4 cam effect my gas mileage by a lot?

A better cam for a stock L98 is the ZZ4 cam. Check the cam tech article on this site for more details on other good cams for L98 engines.
