New to tpi question
New to tpi question
hey, i have a 87 iroc z with a 350tpi. now on the start up, it almost dosn't want to start and if it does sometime it dies right after. if i give it alittle gas is seems to stay started but sorta runs rough for a bit. after it warms up it seems t obe ok. also from inside the car i can hear a loud hissing. i thought it was a header gasket, but after reading a bit on here i was starting to think it might be the iac valve? does it sound like the iac valve to everyone else and how could i check or fix it? thanks

Re: New to tpi question
sounds almost exaclty my problem. my MAF was totally out of whack. disconnect the maf sensor jsut the wiring to it and try to start the car. if it starts right up like the life has been shuved back into it u need to replace the maf sensor or one of the maf relays most likely.
after 20yrs the iac valve is covered in carb gunk, replace it for 60 bucks and clean out the port with tpi or carb cleaner.
also make sure you do a tps sensor calibration to .54v
