Planning Help
Want to say thanks in advance for all the help so far but I need just a little bit more. I am coming back from a 6 month deployment and will start on the mods when I get home here in a couple of months.
Goals:
A very streetable 89 Iroc that runs consistent low 13s N/A with an added punch of NO2 (100 shot) when required to dip into the 12s (brother-in-law has a tuff little 66 Mustang that runs 13.3 all day). I do not have a hard budget per say but want to stay as cheap as possible. I have a very understanding wife to say the least. It will be staying auto since the wife enjoys driving it as well. <<< the understanding part. I figure I need a solid 275Rwhp to make this happen.
Build
Things I have:
89 Iroc (350/A4/3.23 9 bolt)
Magnaflow exhaust.
AS&M large Tube Runner (not installed)
Bigmouth intake (not installed)
52MM TB (not installed)
Underdrive pulleys (not installed)
K&Ns
T-Stat 160
MSD Coil
8.8 MM Wires
Lakewood LCA
Alum DS (not installed)
Tokico Shocks
Hypertec Chip
Things to Buy:
Engine:
Don's Headers
Dual High Flow cats
Rebuild of 350 (staying 355)
1.6 Rockers.
Performer RPM heads. I know there is better but once again I am saving money everywhere I can for a realistic goal. I can get a brand new set of performer RPM heads for around 750.00 with a friends discount. I also looked on CHP wesite and they have these making 3 hp and 6 lbs of torque less on a 383 as compared to the Trickflow 195s so I think they will fit my needs just fine. I thought about going E-tec but I got a heck of a deal on my intake system so I will not be going the vortec style intake route. I looked at the Dart/Brodix IK/ Patriot Heads but I can use the extra 300 bucks elsewhere in the car. Fell free to argue the point if you know where i can get a set of Aluminum heads for around 750 that will perform as well.
NO2 Kit
Drivetrain:
LCA Brackets
Subframe connectors.
Pro Kit springs ( i think these are the 1" drop ones)
Strut tower brace
Trans-go Kit
2200-2500 Stall
Questions I need help with:
Should I go with the Lt4 Hot Cam? Cost wise or would it be better to buy a Comps Cam XFI?
I will be buying the stuff to tune with soon , should I go ahead and buy an Ostrich or buy the Flash and burn kit. I do intend on building another Camaro/Firebird for my son as he turns 16 in a couple of years.
