fule pump noise

The other day i had just come home and I noticed a hum coming from the back of the car.The car was turned off and it still made this noise.I'm shure it was coming from the back near the gas tank. Could it be the pump not shuting off.I think i also have a leaking injector??

GSS,

Yes, the pump is still running. If ti continues to run for up to five seconds after shut down, that can be completely normal. The auxilliary oil pressure switch provides power to the fuel pump, so if there is still more than 4-7 PSIG of oil pressure in teh galleries when the engine shuts off, the pump will continue to run until the pressure bleeds off.

Mine has done that for years.

If the pump continues to run significantly longer, you may have a failing oil pressure switch or sticking fuel pump relay.
