Alright, I've read the Lingenfelter book and the TPI swap book and I want to make sure I understand what is going on before I start making changes. These questions are in reference to my 87 350 TPI. In stock form the intake is the choke in the system above 4500rpm? I would like to make good HP/TQ to about 5500. I'm thinking about WP S/R torqer heads or similar, and higher ratio roller rockers. The intake and exhaust are the problem. So I need to replace just the runners or the runners and lower intake? With what product? Finally, the cast iron exhaust manifolds have 2.5 inch dumps so I'm thinking about using these or going to long tubes as shorty headers wouldn't improve much over the stock manifolds. Finally, I would install a CAI and cat back system of some sort. This would be the plan for 1hp-tq/cubic inch. What do you think? Also, I cant seem to download the deck lid pull down repair PDF. Nevermind it downloaded this time!! Thanks

Re: exhaust intake and heads questions
In my opinion, the entire intake system should be replaced. You will need a ported fatory intake or one of the aftermarket pieces; the Accel unit is very good, so is the "large mouth" intake from TPIS. You can this unit off with a Accel SuperRam, but you should port it.

Second thought: from the got go here, buy and install the HSR, the HSR is the intake and plenum together as one unit, is cost effective and flows what you need for power at or above 5500RPM.

Question: do you want to preserve the factory look of the TPI?

If YES: then I would buy the Accel intake base, ported the factory plenum, and install large tube runners. head this up with a 52mm throotle body.
If NO: then I would install the HSR with a 52mm TB.

Get yourself 24 #/hr injectors from Ford Racing, along with a good AFPR.

For the headers, I dont think that we have alot of choices here, I have the 1 3/4" SLP headers.

Re: exhaust intake and heads questions
You're dead wrong about headers; shorties are a HUGE difference over manifolds. Your y-pipe sucks too, make sure it's replaced.

I think a Holley stealth ram is great, I like the converted LT1 intake better. Fitment in a firebird is different than a camaro, you better check what will fit first.
