Re: TPI Intake bolt torque pattern?

For the base or runners?
For the base, nearly all patterns start at the center most bolt, and then move outward, alternating sides. This makes for the most evenly distributed clamping force.

yes for the base. I was thinking the same pattern u stated. My chiltons manual was showing the passenger side then moving to the drives side which seemed strange

Re: TPI Intake bolt torque pattern?

Its not sensitive enough to really matter which side you start on. As long as you evenly torque the bolts in a alternating sequence you'll be fine.

Much like torqing lug nuts in a star pattern. its so the wheel seats correctly.

Re: TPI Intake bolt torque pattern?

8. 7. 9. 10. 11. 12.

front engine TPI Intake

2. 1. 3. 4. 5. 6.

I guess I'll go with the way it says to torque the TPI Intake but the TBI way looks better and i'll only be torqueing to 18lbs. because its going to aluminum heads not iron

5. 6. 4. 1. 7. 8.

front engine TBI Intake

9. 10. 3. 2. 11. 12.

Re: TPI Intake bolt torque pattern?

i wouldn't do the one side, then other side way. I've always done the center, and worked my way out in a circular motion and haven't had a problem.

oh, And on my LT1 (alum. heads) they still called for 30 ft/lbs. tq spec
