Hey, anyone have any tips of wut kind to get or where? only place i'v found one was at SLPonline.com, is it good, anyone have it? Anyone have pics of their CAI, custom or otherwise? Also, would it benifit me to insulate the iair intake hose with some type of wrap?

The SLP cold air intake setup that is advertised in the NextGen catalog ( http://www.nextgenparts.com ) is the only aftermarket one I've ever seen offered for thirdgens. If you have a Camaro, you can cut the entire bottom half off the stock airbox, and stick in some K&N's and then run some ducting down in front of your radiator, and then have them take air from behind the little "scoop" things on either side of center of the grille. I'm not so sure how Firebirds would have a homemade cold air setup, I'm still thinking about that one.

And I've never considered insulating the intake ducting to keep heat out of it, but I'm sure that it could be done, and it would probably help keep the air a bit cooler, although I don't really know how it'd look under the hood.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... Now that I think about it, a cold air intake for the Firebird could be fabricated with the right stuff, but my plan would only work on Speed Density cars. Say there's a boxed K&N cone filter on the throttle body, and the intake ducting coming off of it towards the front of the car. Then that ducting goes 90* straight towards the ground behind the radiator and fans, and then takes another 90* turn and opens up in a small cutout slot of the air dam, right in the middle of the car. I think that could work. If only I could make it look not too ghetto looking. I know that 90* turns suck for airflow, but having a cold air kit with 2 90* turns in it is better than having the stock setup with 2 90* turns sucking hot air from the engine bay.
