Has anyone done this to an IROC???
Has anyone ever opened up the hood decal on the IROC's to use as an intake? I currently use gutted-out fog lamp chambers as my intake with K&N's. Just curious...
How did you get those lamps gutted? I have been wanting to do this. Did you just cut the foam behind them, or remove the entire fog light? Do you have some kind of screen covering the hole? Thats what I want to do. What kind of tubing did you use?
You would not want to run the ducts to the louvers. This area is a low pressure area. I ran my ducts to the fog light holes too. Had to remove the plastic shield and cut part of the reinforcement with a sawzall to fit the big 4 inch ducts. I removed them now because when it rained it would suck up water and soak the filters.

I didn't actually do it; I simply posted that question to see if anyone had done it and how they did it. I have removed the hood blanket, and I would have to cut through the steel hood along with some hood subframing to get to the fake louvers. I've got the TPI system right now, and I would suppose that a carbeurated system would have a better effect if I was to go ahead and start cutting steel. I think I'll stick with the cold air intake afront the radiator.
as nicmike mentioned, the louvers create a low-pressure area, whereby higher-pressure air moving over the hood draws heat out of engine room and relieves some air pressure underhood. both of these would be beneficial, but at slow speeds or stopped: moisture(rain, dew, etc.,...) can get underhood and play havoc with the electric bits.
