Need help removing smog pump and AIR valve?

I'm removing my smog pump and AIR valve off my 87 Trans Am, but how do I get the AIR tubes off? They are bolted to the heads on the back of my engine and there a PITA to reach. Can I just leave them on the car and just remove the pump and AIR valve and cap-off the AIR tubes on my headers? I figured I'd disconnect the tube going to the CAT and crimp the small tube on the CAT till I get a chance to remove it. Is there anyhing elese I would need to disconnect? BTW: It's on a V-belt system.

You can just leave that on there, thats what I did... too much of a PITA to get off, and its not really in the way.

You dont have to crimp the tube from the cat if you cap it off.

Is there anything else I need to do before I start it back up? Anyone know What the cap size I'll need to get? I have the valves off already just wonder what size so I won't be in the hardware store forever finding the size needed. Thanks, Jason
