What To do

Alright Guys Ive got another car im working on, a 91 Z28.... finally. It is a gm t-top car but it has 350TPI stickers on the back....LOL...FAKE.
But it really is getting a 350 .040 over. Flat tops with 4 valve reliefs that sit .040 in the hole. Total seal gapless rings. A comp cam 290HR12.....5.10 I...5.xx E...230 I...244 Exh. Double roller timing chain if it makes any difference.

INTAKE...Stock Looking Tuned port...seriously no laughing....Siamesed the base about 5 inches deep ..(gotta love a carbide bit, its magic)..and polished the rest of the base as clean as I could get it. polished every inch of the inside of the plenum as well as the regular wall removal. Gasket matched the base and plenum. Stock runners. The outside is polished as well but im thinking about just using the unpolished plenum and runners that i have extra.
As much sleeper look as possible...I like the way it looks though polished. All I have right now is 19 LB injectors though. Thinking about 24's being as they are cheap and available. The heads is where I am running into problems. I have a set of 081 heads that are untouched except for the spring seat that I made ready for the comp double springs. I also have a set of 1990 TBI 305 heads That I ported and polished myself...mostly polished. Both of these heads would raise the CR considerably.

The TPI is a speed density out of 90 transam

Exhaust....Shorty headers into probably custom dual cat exhaust. Dont have to have them but Kinda want to pass an inspection "anywhere" not just the local hookup. (no sniffer) just a visual.

Which heads to use or wait the 2 months for a set of AFR's?
What size Injectors to use?
What kind of power to expect?
What kind of 1/8 Et's....Its all I got in craphole Abilene Tx. 3.5 Hours to Ennis

Its also going through a stock t-5 from a 91 RS 305
Any bets on when it will trash out?

3.42 Rearend as well....came with stock Posi.

What do yall think about it. One rare 91Z T-Top 350 5 speed

Re: What To do

you could get T tops with a 350. So it might be true.

Re: What To do

if i were you i would wait the 2 months for the AFR's that'll make a big difference and i would probably go for the 24lb injectors. the tranny will hold up until you hook

Re: What To do

Dump the TBI heads; they can't support your cam and tune now. Someone may want to buy them for their LO5/LO3 engine so maybe you'll recoup a few bucks. I don't know the numbers yet, but if 081 is an older LG4 or TPI 305 head, then port those and run them. You'll be happy and you can drive the car while you save your AFR money for a tranny upgrade - that you'll definitely require.

Your T5 won't last at all if you clutch drop or really get it from 2nd to 3rd. Now is the time to start saving for a TKO or a T56 upgrade.

You can bump the fuel pressure some for your injectors, but with speed density you must tune it and you'll need a higher volume pump to support the power.

I like 3.42's, you'll be fine until you get your tranny upgraded.

Re: What To do

Sounds good. Definetely getting rid of the polished heads. The 081's are going on, they are off of a newer 305TPI. I knew that AFPR would come in handy But i didnt think it would stretch a set of 19 pounders that far. Anybody with guestimates for HP or TQ with 081 or AFR 180's or 220's. The 081's will yeild nearly 10.5:1 compression. I think the ported base will make it react more like a LT1 with its shorter runners. afr's painted black will make the most evil sleeper TPI ever.

I actually found a daily driver for about 700 dollars. And its extremely ugly and slow so I will not be tempted to dump money into it. So this project will actually get done correctly...the first time.

So far the votes are to dump the heads and tranny in favor of a t56 and afr's. Which is exactly what ive dreamt of for years. Im thinking maybe mid May for a completion date. Unless something amazing happens.
