General TPI Opinion Needed
I want to upgrade my 305TBI in my 92 RS. I have located a 350 TPI from a 1992 Z28. They are including the Motor, Wiring Harness, and Computer for $750. I have been told the mileage is about 110K.
1. Is this engine worth the price?
2. Am I correct that it will pretty much go into my car without a whole lot of mods?
3. What could I expect for power from this motor after a rebuild and upgraded runners, throttle body, headers, and such?
I am just looking for an opinion. I like the way these motors look and I want to keep the swap kind of simple.
thanks

with full bolt ons and a lt1 camshaft instal i'd say you could be somewhere between 220-250 wheel hp, definetly a huge improvement compares to what you have....
with a little larger cam and a bit of porting you could be closer to 275 wheel
btw the swap should go quite simple if you have the harness and computer and it's all in tact, as for 750 yah thats not terrible they go for 800 at my local chevy yard.
i'd pull the pan on the engine or covers and such before i made any commitments though. I've saw engines last 50k miles or 350k depending on how it was used and cared for.
btw i wouldnt invest in a tb till your at 300 wheel hp or higher as its a waste of money, port your plenum semi siamese your base or siamese a set of slp runners, run a lt1-lt4 cam 1.6 roller rockers and pocket ported heads, that'd be a combo for a 250 whp i'd say.

Also, keep in mind the 92 TPI is Speed Density, and is NOT real forgiving of altering the engine. You will most certainly have to do some chip tuning to get the full potential of the engine. There is some really good stuff in the DIY Prom boards....

Thanks... Dude sold motor from under me.
Oh well. now I will continue my search.
Next stop is a person selling a 60k LT1 and Transmission still mated together for $1500. Waiting to see if harness and computer are included.
