when at the track has anyone ever used a 14 inch rim and tire in order to get the affect of a larger gear ratio?without having to swap my gears again would this be an option?does anyone know the equations determining this like going from a 26in. tire to a 24 in. tire would make 3.23's act like 3.55's etc.

it may act like a lower gear ratio but it will give you more rwhp. a guy in my car club (2000 z-28) dynoed with his stock 16in rims and had 300 someting hp and then put the stock 17in ss rims and lost 10 hp. since torque is force times the lever arm there is a bigger lever arm with the larger rims plus the weight is more towards the end making it harder to rotate. it can help you if you can make it stick.
its also why cars with less hp get slower trap speds when they put slicks on because they can't turn the big slicks at the end of the 1/4 mile
