Leaking intake manifold on TPI

My 91 Trans Am 5.7 liter TPI intake manifold was leaking antifreeze from the back of the engine near the distributor. A friend of mine told me to use Bars sealer to stop the leak. I didn't think it would work but I did it anyway and it did ! My question has anybody ever done this before and had it last for any amount of time ? Or am I doomed to have to pay for labor for a new intake manifold ? Car only has 80K on it. I am having no other issues.

Any ideas on easy fixes if this one fails ?

Thanks...........

In most cases, the easy way out is usually the worst in the long run. Stop leak will sometimes work for a while, but can plug up theings like heater cores and radiators, and thermostats. The leak can also come back, but be a much more severe leak the next time. It's most likely just the intake manifold gasket, but is not a fun job on a TPI. Fix it right this time, or you will pay mroe later.

find out where it is leaking from gm is notorious for making thin water jackets and bolt holes i would first look at the hole next to the distributor hold down bolt if it is cracked it will leak coolant if it is migrating from the water jacket you are better off pulling the intake and sealing the water jackets as opposed to stop leak.

Have you tried tightening the torx bolts. My middle four were little more than finger tight. They work themselves loose and the back ones are hard to get to and may have never been re-tightened.

You need to remove the runners and the fuel rails to gain access to the front and rear manifold bolts. If you're going that far, just replace the intake gasket and check the manifold for cracks.
