URGENT!! , car will not idle, tried everything
i have tried the archives and read back a few days and this is different than the other posts. Ok i put in a 5 speed about 2 weeks ago and since the idle has been hit and miss. If I bumped the throttle it "might" come down to 900 rpm, but mostly stays at 1500-1700 rpm. It sometimes would just go down to 900 if i stopped moving (pulled over).
Ok so tonight i decide to check tps and IAC by the method in the tech section. WHAT I found is the TPS is on the money .54 idle and 4.35+/- at WOT. I have tried to do the IAC by the instructions, but as i disconnect it and start it it will race at 1750-2000 rpm. I have tried to back the screw up until it doesn't touch anything yet the idle stays at no less than 1700 rpm. ////no codes at all//// PLease I haven't a clue on this one. SHAGGY

You will need to get into prom burning to take advantage of the T5. The chips are radically different from an AUTO to a Manual tranny. Only problme is that the Fbody didn't come with a 350/manual combo, so a heavily modified 305/manual combo chip.

Try removing the IAC and extending it (careful not to let it come apart) manually, then installing it again...leaving it unplugged from the electrical connector.
Clean it up while it's out.
Then try starting the car and see if the idle is lowered. If not suspect a large vacuum leak somewhere (check all the lines that may have gotten moved, etc during the tranny swap).
I don't think the drag on a TC would cause a 600-800 RPM drop at idle when compared to a flywheel, I'd think you should still be able to get it to idle okay??

No the chips aren't dramatically different. It should idle fine with the stock chip. I put T56 into my car that was originally an automatic and it runs fine.

Have you played with the MAF yet, in particular the relays?
