A few quick questions.
Anybody know what could cause the inside of the throttle body to get this dirty?
And do some of the spark plugs go in at an angle on L98's?

Airfoil off

Throttle body plate off

Re: A few quick questions.
they all look like that if you don't clean them often. Get a wire tooth brush or tiny toilet brush sorta thing + a can of carb cleaner hose here down a little bit. and scrub then repeat with carb cleaner then start the car (it'll run like **** for a second after). Make sure you clean the backside of the butterflies btw they are usually much worse than the fronts.
as for the angle plugs on an l98 i'm pretty sure they should all be straight but, i'm not 100% positive.

I thought all the plugs should go in straight too, but I could of swore some were going in at an angle. Any one else have some input?

just make sure the car is outside before you decide to clean the throttle body out. and i agree with the other poster either use carb cleaner or brake cleaner and spray and wipe as much carbon off the backside of the throttle blades off then start the car and give it some gas so it stays running and youll see white smoke come out there is your dirt.

Re: A few quick questions.
The plugs on my stock 350 84 86 87 c4 heads go in straight. all the plugs look the same.
Also check your PVC valve it should have the same carbon looking stuff on it. A little bit of blowby the rings will send air/oil mix to the intake and gummy things up.

Re: A few quick questions.
a good indication that they are working fine is pull it out and shake it, if it rattles like a spray paint can it's not ruined.
everytime i have a can of carb cleaner out i hose mine down you will get a little blowby on all these things or at least suck some oil in it sooner or later plugging it up. Replace it when you do a tuneup its liek a 1.99
