any suggestions

Hey people, i have a 305 TPI motor in my car with a stock 274 (i think thats right) gear. now i dont have a huge wallet but i do have a good check from time to time and i would like some advice on some mods that would be great for my car. as of now these are what i want to get: a pully set, eliminate the smog system (have heared that this dosent really do anything but make it easier to work on), a bigger gear (342), and a cool air intake. now i was looking at cams for my car. i dont want an aggressive cam since my car is a DD. i was looking at the TPiS flat tappet hydrolic cams. they offer two for my car. which would you suggest getting or do you suggest not to get that brand. and what about those throttle body airfoils do they work at all or are they as usefull at the tornadoes. i dont have the time to pull the motor and do any extensive work on it. so that excludes a supercharger or a turbo.

here are the list of thing i know of that are on the car:
3 inch flomaster exhaust from the manifolds back with the cat's deleted
shift kit for the rebuilt motor
engine was bored out when rebuilt (i cant rememer how much have to call the seller again)
i got bored and put a cone filter that i had laying around in place of the airbox. then kind of left it cause the filter that was in there was in need of replacing and i didnt want to go and buy another one. lol

heres the link to the cams i was was looking at.

thanks guys.

ok so i had a friend find one of these http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_vi...?idProduct=762

now i heard that tuners wont work on the third gen cars. but i dont think this is a tuner. i dont know why a tuner wouldnt work for my car. i thought if it had a computer that you could use a tuner.

Re: any suggestions

My best suggestion would be to look over this site to get some ideas of what parts combinations other people are having success with. Most conservative combinations of parts will give some improvements. That G-Tech unit is used to measure performance, and it says it datalogs, which is recording info from your computer. Tuning requires the ability to change the programming of the computer. That (tuning) equipment is available also. Check the DIY Prom forum for more insight.

Re: any suggestions

I would not spend the money on the pulleys. Our charging systems are barely adequate as it is, slowing the alt down some more, well, just not a good idea in my book. (this is personal opinion)

What year is your car? You may have a roller cam in there currently, and it would be a step backward to go to a flat tappet, it could also possibly require different length pushrods....

Was the engine rebuilt to stock?

Try doing a search on the forums for "Free Mods", and it may give ya some ideas as well.

Instead of the GTech, I would be tempted to spend the money on prom burning equipment..... See the DIY Prom board for suggestions. (check out the stickies.)

Throttle body air foils? Hhhmmmm.... I spent the money, and installed on. Not sure if it makes a difference... Maybe if the plenum/runners/intake were ported.....

Exhaust work will definitely help. Start with some good headers, and Y-Pipe.

Have fun.

the car in an 89 formula. ad i kow that the car has a bore over i just cant remember what the guy that sold it to me said. as far as the exhaust all thats would be needed would be the headers. but i dont have the money for those yet. i know that the make a pully set for my car that slows down everything but the alt. it actually speed it up. good the hear about the foil though. i didnt want to waist wht little money there is lol. where can i find prom buring equipment. i would love to get those instead but i thought those would be way to epenssive.
