373 gears

When you put gears in the car will the wine through the break down period or should they be quite form the get go.

If they whine now, they prolly will forever... The pinion depth or the backlash isn't set correctly although a small amout of whine comes from high geared performance sets but it's not 'overly' whiny

It depends on what gears you have. If they are stock gears (GM) then they should be quite. If they are Richmond Gears, then they will whine cause they are cut differetly and are meant for racing, not for Grandma's Buick.

Gear whine will start around 40MPH and go from there. If you have driven more than like 20 miles, then changine the tooth pattern now will make them whine more.

I've got all the specs and data on the Saginaw (New Venture) rear ends, but they aren't specifically for TPI cars so I can't help you on the TPI board.

Allmost eveyone I know that has not used GM original gears has whine. Even some Mudstains have them to.

86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!
