Bad MAF sensor?

I have a '87 IROC with a 305 TPI. When I plug up the MAF sensor the car runs really bad but it runs perfectly when unpluged. Do I replace the MAF sensor ($300) or do I just leave it unpluged.

i'm assuming that your ses light stays lit no matter how it's hooked up.whenthe maf goes bad you go into limp home mode when this occursit might feel better but thecomputer is limited by the base perrametters and locks the timing whichh means no advance.if you are justt driving and are not looking for performance leave it off,if you want the car tto run rightt i would replace it

Your SES lightbulb may be burned out. I would check your codes with an Auto X-Ray if you have one or can borrow one.

You can get a remanufactured Bosch MAF from Autozone or Kragen with a 1 year warranty for 139.00 exchange under the name A1-Cardone.
