VSS input for MAF cars
VSS input for MAF cars
how many pulses/mile does a MAF ECM's Vehicle Speed Sensor take? I have heard from many that they take a 2000ppm signal, and the SD ECMs take a 4000ppm signal. I called a speedo shop and they told me their database lists the MAF cars as having a 4000ppm signal.
I also need to know how many pulses/mile an '86-'89 firebird/transam/formula/gta elec speedo takes, and what the vss buffer does.
I am doing a t56 swap on a chevy with a MAF tpi, using a Digital Dakota signal converter, and then will have to convert to elec speedo from a MAF pontiac.
Thanks

I did this same thing. T-56 trans, Dakota translator box. I fed the 2000 pulse/mile output from the Dakota box to my '165 ECM running ARAP code and it reads fairly accurate speed.
I still need to do the procedure for correcting for my 3.42:1 rear gearing to get speed accurate, but no biggie. I'm still working on fitting an aftermarket electronic speedo into my stock dash location.
Good luck!
