HEllllllllp i searched the fourms btw and hello all
Hello all i have searched all the fourms for the anwer noting as strange as this i tried starting it nothing i tried agin and all hell broke lose there was the stangest noise comming from under the hood and possibly under the car i removed the key and the noise contined till the battery went dead my first thought was that its a short still is but it was just strange. I poped the hood and bloodhounded the smell it stoped at the distibouter but i wasnt really sure because it was windy. but it was on the passanger side and the nosie seemed to be comming from the center of the car. Now the car wont turn i tried charging the brand new battery and it wouldnt take the charge at all. Im thinking some kinda of motor burned out or somthing this is my only car and im not able to afford another i just need it running weither its rigged or whatever i love it but if i cant get to work there is no way i can acutally rebuild it the way i would like and im thinking a swap but i dont have the tools nor know how to perform this.. Any info would be appreciated thanks alot everyone

welcome aboard, well to start with id say what kind of noise ,what did it sound like?sounds like the starter from what you described, probablythe bushings have worn out and it shorted like you said. they get worn ,then the armature will short to the field. unhook the battery cables, remove starter and replace.charge the battery with cables unhooked to see if it will hold a charge.hth, later jimmy

no wasnt the starter im alomost sure it sounded more like the fuel pump and the smell came from the the passanger side under the hood but the sound came more or less from the middle or drivers side and underneth the car

I would still say starter motor...... just because it "sounds like" it is coming from one place, does not mean it is really coming from there.....

if it gets a dead short in it, or in the solenoid, than yea it will, take it off and take it to your local auto parts store and have them bench test it, im pretty sure without being able to look at the car or hear the sound, that you problem is in your starter

The starter will draw huge amounts of power , thats why batterys are rated in cold cranking amps - the cranking part is refering to the starter .
I agree with everyone it's your starter .
