HELP!!! Holley 58mm TB idle problem
I just installed a new Holley 58mm TB. The car idles like CRAP when it's cold, have to pedel it to keep it running until it gets warm! I've adjusted the idle screw out so it would stay running, but then the idle stayed to high (1600 - 1700rpms)after it was warm. So with the car running and now warm, I adjusted the idle down to 1200rpm. If I keep the car running at this setting, it idles fine until I turn it off and it cools down. With the idle set at 1200, it idles like crap when I start it again when the car is cool! I live in Houston, so the weather is between 75 - 90 all the time, so It's not cold weather causing it to do this. Also, I'm having a problem with the Transmission detent cable. The **** on the throttle linkage on the Holley is a hair bigger than the stock TB, so the detent cable cant swivel like it's supposed to!!! ANY HELP will be appreciated!!! By the way when the car is at operating temp, it screems now!!!
MAke sure that you gasket is meeting up properly. Try spraying som Throttlebody cleaner around it and see if the idle picks up, if not then goto the thech section and adjust your IAC and roll the TPS back just a bit.

I checked for vaccum leaks.....none. I did bypass the coolant to the TB. How do I adjust the IAC? Any suggestions with the Detent cable problem? Do you think I just need an adjustable fuel pressure regualtor, and if so, how much fuel pressure 46, 48, or 50? THANKS!!
Wut mods\engine do u have, 58mm is a little big. Did u rest the IAC? did it idle fine before u put the new throttle body on?

Um I had to fab a bracket for My BBK because it had the wrong linkage on it. Fuel pressure regualtors are around $60, It is important to have one, You can fiddle with it and your timing and always find a few more HP and run smoother.

Do not throw more parts at the car. If the car idled fine before you did the TB swap, you obviously have done something wrong or screwed something up. Did you set the minimum air?..... correctly? There are instructions on how to do this on this site. I had to perform this when I got my BBK TB as it was way too far closed to idle correctlyfrom the factory. If you have jacked the minimum air screw in and out a bunch while the car was running, you have probably gotten it so far out of adjustment that you should start over completely when you set it by closing the throttle plates almost completely to start with.
Ya gotta remember that the ECM will command the IAC valve open and closed to try to get the idle under control, so if you are screwing with it, it will screw with you right back.
Another thing to remember is that when the ECM gives more or less IAC counts to adjust the idle, the change is not instantaneous.
An AFPR is a good mod to have, but it is not the cause of your problems (most likely).

In the previous posts I haven't noticed where you adjusted the TPS, (Throttle Position Sensor). Besides checking for something being assembled incorrectly, you should set minimum idle as per direction found on this site, adjust the TPS voltage, and look for vacuum leaks you may have missed.
Can't help on the cable, I've never installed anything but the factory TB.
