Re: cam for 96 vortec 350 with TPI

Is that the Compucam 2032? The '96 Vortec truck engines were the first truck engines that came with roller cams. If that is the 2032 it will go right in. Its a little outdated by today's standards but it wake up any engine and still work with the stock Vortec valve springs.
But if you want to swap in better valve springs for more lift I recommend the Manley 22410-16 springs and 23652-16 retainers.

Re: cam for 96 vortec 350 with TPI

I used a spring kit from Crane # 10308-1. The kit fits iron head LT1 and Vortec heads and the heads do not need any machining for the springs or for more lift.
I forgot what lift they will allow, since it's been a couple years, but you could look them up at Crane, jegs, summit, etc.
I used a used LT4 stock cam for 20.00 off vette forum.
