If you have other intake mods such as filter,cold air,foil,ported mass air meter....yes it will help a bit.

You need to attack the intake as a whole to really reap any gains.

I have a ported plenum on my 88 305 TPI along with the above mods and it runs very well.

The plenum bores just behind the throttle body are the single most restrictive point in the induction system, so it would only stand to reason that there would be some advantage. As stated, these advantages will be more apparent as teh modifications continue, but for the cost of a set of plenum gaskets it's a good start.

My first mod was to port the plenum. It didn't feel any faster, but it did feel much smoother reving up in the rpm's. Adding the headers is what gave me the biggest gain on the 305.

Why didnt anyone tell me???
Cant wait to see what happens when I knock these walls down... see if I cant push the HP up a bit more. Think I should do it? This is on the engine with the siamesed base btw... told you the plenum wasnt ported.. heh...



Yea, it can help, anything can help on a 305... it needs all the help it can get.
