PLEASE HELP ME WITH IDLE

alright i need help here!!!!! ok I have a 89 Iroc Z Camaro I just rebuilt the engne )350) well I have a problem with the idle..its idles at like 1500 no matter what. Well I try to adjust the idle screw, but the throttle thingy dont even touch the screw so it dont make any different if If I try to adjust it there. Well please help me if u know what I should do or any other ways of adjust idle..thanks

Please help me here. I have no idea how to adjust the idle. The throttle thing wont even touch the screw..please I need help.

If it won't touch the stop screw, check for binding of the throttle blades or cable. Clean the throttle body and lubricate the blade shaft, and check the cable and cable guide. It could even be a broken throttle spring, but there's only so many things that can cause your problem. More than likely it's just coking around the throttle bores that a shot of throttle body cleaner can take care of. Hope this helps.

Did you happen to replace the throttle body with a new,if so when you swaped the TPS sensor over there's a little tab make sure it's in the right place.When I swaped over to my new one I didn't put it on right. And it wouldn't not operate correctly.What is your source for your RPM readings.In my experience I have found that the factory tach is off.Mine was reading about 1100rpm,although the car didn't really sound like it.After checking it with my scan tool It only showed like 650rpm's.Unless it is clearly idling to high.Then you still have a problem.There's an article in TECH ARTICAL on the main page on setting mininum idle,TPS and what not using volt meter.Read that try setting it accordingly.If it still seems to idling high sound like you could have a vaccum leak.You said new motor might want to go over some intake bolts etc..Good luck let us know how you make out.
