Fuel injector swap in an 88 TPI

The car idles irratic and ive checked everything, Last year my bike was doing the same thing until i changed the jets in the carbs and now it runs fine,

Unfortuanality I have to run E85 due to the damn state of MA, and it dident start until E85 came out (corn gas) I was told i have to run double sized injectors like 40lbs, is this right? and if i have to does anyone know where to get the chip reprogrammed so it can handle the larger injectors?

you wouldnt have to program the prom for larger injectors, the prom doesnt care, all its worried about is air fuel ratio and how it balances it - of coarse this is over simplified there are other factors to consider; point is theres no way of telling the computer you have larger injectors.

anyways in regards to the E85, I have heard of people running it and it rusting out there gas tank, the steel tanks and lines are not designed for ethanol, new cars like GMs E85 lineup have stainless tanks and lines. A friend recently had a fuel pump mess up, the sending unit died. He had been running cheap E85 gas and it happened over maybe 15-20 fill-ups of cheap gas.<-may be totally unrelated or maybe not. The ethanol may have "loosened" dirt in the fuel system causing an injector to clog up or some other malfunction. could try running a fuel system cleaner through it but thats more of a maintainance thing.

anyways truth be told all gas stations now for the most part run at least 10% ethanol blended gas.

I seriously recommend AGAINST running E85 in any vehicle that was not designed for it. I am a calibration engineer and I work on flex fuel vehicles. E85 in a vehicle that was designed and calibrated for only gasoline will run 42.5% lean. Your closed loop o2 sensor correction can only go so far. Also, as has been mentioned, it will corrode your fuel system and ruin your injectors very quickly. Once again, for the sake of your car, please don't run E85 if you don't own a flex fuel vehicle or have a fuel system and calibration adapted for E85 usage.

This is absolutely incorrect. In fact there IS a way, it's referred to as the injector constant. Putting larger injectors in without changing this makes the tune wrong, since it's based off the smaller injector size.

Right, usually it's a pulsewidth to mass table. Larger injectors deliver a larger fuel mass for a given pulsewidth.
