Like CHP 12 sec TPI buildup, a few questions

I was VERY happy to receive CHP's newest issue, 82-92(thirdgens) Camaro buildup. Their 12sec 350 particuiarly stole my interest. I have a 350 block, punched .040 over sitting here waiting for build. I picked up a comp 262 cam(218 228 112lsa) and the rest has been stalled. Now, I have cast iron L98 heads, a stock TPI with AFPR,700r4, hooker 2460 headers, 3in exhaust in to a flowmaster with 2 1/2 tips. .and no pistons yet. Just wondering what out of their parts list from TPIS could be substituted from another manufacturer with the same gains. also, would the cast iron heads really hinder my gains if they had a simple porting and I was running 9.5-1? Im trying to talk the wife into letting me get another credit card just to fund jazzing our cars up, and she seems to be gonig for it. Now its just convincing the bank to send me some platinum
Mike

I, too, read the same article. Some good stuff in there.

Just about any aftermarket TPI setup will supply some gains over the stock unit. That was the biggest drawback over stock, is the restrictions found inside.

As far as the heads, the cast heads aren't really going to hurt, due to metal type, as long as you have them worked over to flow as best they can.

The engine just needs air in, and air out in the most expedient manner. The better the flow, the more HP.

Go with a good flat top forged piston, just incase you really get the bug and 'forced induction' later.
