Help - Mysterious vacuum hose...

ok - I just finished putting my car back together after a cam swap and im plugging the vacuum hoses back in... The engine shop that last worked on my car seems to have just pluged the hoses where ever because the hose going to the egr was comming out of the wireharness loom and wasn't from the EGR SOL. at all. So my question is were does this hose go. it come out of the loom at the exact same place that the other going to the cruz control goes in ( on the pas. side) - its one of those small vacuum hoses too like the one that goes to the egr. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!

hehehehehe i love stoopid people.(not you) the shop!the egr should have a line directly off the intake (i think) or it goes from the intake to the little solenoid thing to the egr. the one you are describing sounds to me like one of the hoses that goes to control your heat and stuff. check heat and make sure it stays off when in off position and goes on properly. could be it and you wouldnt realize it till winter time.
hope this helps alittle..but probably not

Kane,

The vacuum source for the EGR is a timed vacuum port on the underside of the throttle body. This line may also have a "T" fitting to supply vacuum to the EVAP purge control solenoid. From the throttle body port, it goes to the EGR solenoid, then to the EGR valve pilot servo.

The small polyethylene line you describe may indeed be the heater control supply, as TPI420 suggests.

the way I have it hooked up now to the EGR is - The line comes out of the TB and then goes to the black thing under where the coil attaches - I guessed that was the EGR sol. - then the other hose comming out of that goes to the egr... Also does that hose comming out of the harness attach to the heater core - or some other place- I haven't looked yet but thought I would ask to make finind it easier - oh and vader thanks man - you've saved my *** multiple times over the past few years
