hp estimate - 1/4 mile time?
hey all,
I have been redoing my engine a bit, and was wondering if you folks could hook me up with a rough hp and 1/4 mile time... just so i have an idea what safety crap i have to have on my car for my first run on a real track. here's the list:
-engine is a acdelco reman (l98) with roughly 20k miles on it. tranny stock, posi rear.. its a transam gta.
-edelbrock runners and intake, openings ported to 43mm (golf ball). runners siamesed on top about 3.5 inches in.
-plenum opened up, siamesed, egr walls gone, all excess crap removed for optimal flow.
- holley afpr (will set to 47 to begin)
- jegs 1.6 aluminum roller rockers
-accell 300+ coil/ignition upgrade kit
- subframe connectors, strut tower brace
- shorty headers, y pipe modified to have 3" outlet
- home built high flow cold air intake
let me know what you think
thanks,
Jason

Unless your going to run slicks, you are only going to need a Snell 2000 or SFI 41.1a approved helmet, and if your running slicks you will need a drive shaft loop. You should be in the 13's. i am assuming that this is street legal. The next stage is under 11.49 where you would need a roll bar.

i already picked up a spohn driveshaft loop.... i was going to put that for just basic safety. had a buddy blow a u-joint on his mustang and it caught and kicked the car right off the road... not a pleasant thought
i see summit has a decent black helmet meeting those specs on clearance for 109. is that a good price?
any estimate on horsepower?

109 is a very good price, I would assume your pushing around 230-240 rwhp, your 1/4 should be 13.8-14.0

If you throw in a cam and new heads you will not be in the 14's you would be looking around 13.3ish

i have a 91 gta 305 5speed. i ran a 14.2 with slp runners, accel base, 21 lb injectors, bbk afpr, full msd ignition, slp cold air, hedman headers, flowmaster muffler, comp cam, crane roller rockers, and m/t et streets. it was on stock computer chip and its just a 305. we have done similar mods so i figured it might help. let me know how it goes.

thanks... that does help. i sadly have NO idea what kind of muffler i have. it sounds nice, looks newer than stock, but has no stamps or numbers that i can see. seein as i am already going to tear into the exhaust to stick those headers on, i was thinking of slapping a 3" cutout on and seeing how that goes. takes all the other bs out of the loop till i can get a better cat back on there.
i am trying to get this crap all finished up by beginning of april, as i am going to the track on my vacation in bradenton florida on the 24th.
