TPI - gas tank
TPI - gas tank
I have a '86 305 ci TPI Camaro motor in my '50 Ford pick-up. The Camaro gas tank was relocated to the pickup bed because the previous owner said the original Ford tank wouldn't work with the TPI system. I'm not sure why the Ford tank wouldn't work with TPI, but the refit looks terrible. Anyone know where can I buy a TPI gas tank that would fit behind the seat or UNDER the bed? Either stock or custom? Thanks.

The previous owner was a moron and if i were you i would start taking apart that truck looking for other areas that his idiocy has butchered in the swap.
The only special thing special about a TPI tank is....nothing. That guy was just too stupid to hook up an external fuel pump to whetever pick-up is in the original ford tank (actually, he was probably too stupid to realize that adding a return line is gravy, i'll bet that was his gripe w/ the stock tank.) You could use a fish tank as a gas tank if you wanted to, just fill it with fuel, stick a hose in it, run that hose to your external fuel pump and run that to the fuel rail. Then run the return line back into the tank. (note, i'd take the fish out first)
