sometimes my 91 t/a 305 tpi idle surges from about 800 rpm to 1100 rpm,,if i rev it pretty good sometimes it will settle down,usually this is when the motor is fairly cold,,any ideas on whats causing this?

Is this normal for cold or normal all of the time. I have the same car and engine and it surges all of the time. Doesn't kill though.

It used to kill, but replaced a few parts.

Boy is it annoying. My mechanic said he could not find anything wrong and that the surge is common with these set ups.

Is this right???? Seems like GM wouldn't make thses cars this way.

my 91 Z28 does this on all cold starts, but does not do it after that at all
