Is it worth $500?

An L98 long block with 80k "ran great when pulled", was pulled about 6 months ago. Im looking for a 350 to replace my 305 but Im not a Chevy guy (Pontiacs are my thing) so Ive never priced SBC's before. Is it overpriced? Chevy guys, your input please.

Re: Is it worth $500?

My definition of long block is what long block is suppose to mean. No induction. Basically what Im looking at though(to clarify) is a short block with heads, pan, timing chain cover, no accessories, no flexplate. Its kinda funny its got cheap roller tip rocker arms(just the stamped steel ones with roller tips, not full rollers or anything special) on it which he said he'd knock $100 off if he can keep them 'cause he knows he can sell them on ebay...um, o.k. you can have 'em, lol. That and I got him to knock another $50 off if I give him cash tomorrow. So, if I let him keep the killer rockers, Im down to $350 which I think is about right (a dollar a cube seems fair), but I still cant decide to pull the trigger for some reason. I should probably do it, should'nt I?

Oh also, I want to run GMPP Fast Burn heads but he wont sell the motor minus the heads, how much will I be able to sell a stock set of L98 heads for? That might help recoup some $.

I don't know how fair it is, but I'm trying to sell my longblock for $350, $500 with the tpi on top and all the wiring. So that seems about right to me.

O.k. cool thanks. I guess that's about market value then.

Re: Is it worth $500?

i was trying to sell my long block for 350 as well even tho it has 158K miles on it. It ran incredible for the last 3-4 years i had the car. That was long block from heads to pan, no intake, no timing chain but stock cam and lifters and NO lifter plates or spider...as i needed those

I ended up selling the heads (iron L98 083's) for 185 shipped which netted me about 115 bucks.

now the shortblock to pan is for sale for 200 or best. got a guy interested...i think that price is reasonable but i'll probly take less

Re: Is it worth $500?

Wow, (if I do this) if I could get $150 out of the heads I would be happy and that would make the whole deal that much better!
