Q for don88t/a.....

in regard to your remark out a 58mm TB being to big for a 350. how do you figure out exactly what your car needs.
i didnt really have a choice since mine(BBK 58mm) was given to in trade for installing a tranny kit.
i've seen 355's with similar combo's using a 58mm and running fine. so far i have not had any problems as far as drivability, throttle response, low end perf.
my assumption is this...since the superram intakes have a large plenum they can store plenty of air , a larger TB would supply the flow to keep the plenum full right?
also arent the flow ratings on TB measured without duct work, MAF's, and filters installed? i would guess that since most 58's are rated at 1000cfm , by the time you add the items listed above it would drop it down a bit not drastically but enough.
i'm not saying your wrong nor am i trying to be an expeert on volumetric efficency here...but if a throttle flowed 1000 cfm and a gutted maf flows lets say 750cfm would the throttle body only flow 750 cfm? therfore meeting the needs of a smaller motor. since most bad-*** efi cars run DFI's alot of them dont use restrictive stock-bodied MAF's(3") and reap the true benefits of 58mm(4.4")
just thought i'd ask.
