Re: good cam for tpi?
Well I'm gonna throw you guys for a loop here. I see you guys are talking about zz4's and lt1's and such. Here's what I got. I have an 87 and later 350 block(So I could use a roller cam.) Rebuilt 85tpi 305 heads with a set of Z28 springs. Dished pistons for the 305 heads.(9.1.1-9.5.1 compression). And drum roll please. A PBM roller cam. 214/224 duration. .470/.490 lift. I am running a hypertech thermomaster 305 chip. Stock converter. 3.42 gears. This has verry little lope and is good till around 5000-5500RPM's on my tpi motor. It is verry close if not slightly over 300HP on a stock tpi intake. I can beat stock LT1's all day long so i'm not off by much here. If you look up pbm you should be able to find it. I think my machine shop offers it for around 150-200 bux brand new. I like it and have been running it for 2 years with no problem. The springs I have are good to .500 lift so I will have to have some work done before I put some 1.6 rockers on it but I'm overall happy with this setup for now. I'm also running flowtech headers with true dual 2 1/4" exhaust with 40 series Flowmasters.
