specs as far as "fitment"of vortec tpi base??
you can tell by my signature that i am a TBI guy, but i am putting TPI on my car this winter. does anyone know about the base from SDPC?
now, i am kind of stupid when it comes to TPI stuff, so plese bear with me.
i know that some TPI cars (the earlier ones?) had a 9th "cold start" injector. does the vortec base have that?
what other major differences are there between the TPI setups over the years as far as using parts from different years? I wanted to go with speed density, not MAF.
what years of plenums, runners, throttle bodies are interchangeable with the new base? i am just trying to see what i am getting into before i start to start the search for used TPI parts.
any tips or suggestions? thanks.

Try to keep it all the same. A SD throttlebody is best with a SD plenum, they were made to work with one another. the base should be made to have the cold start injector port, but there aren't any SD systems that have it since they dropped the 9th injector in 1989, 1 year before the switch to SD. A fuelrail from a MAF car will work as long as the 9th injector is plugged or made unoperational. Either set of runners will work, that also depends on if the cold-start injector is there. Only thing I could recommend would be to get all the parts from SD setups if you have any doubt.
